Industry Veterans Announce New Entertainment Software Development Group
Eugene, OR, (December 11, 2001) - Randy Thompson, Stephen Cordon, Jon Milnes, and David Sandgathe announced today the creation of Buzz Monkey Software, LLC, an entertainment software development group, based in Eugene, Oregon. The company is represented by Paul Kohler and CJ Welch. Buzz Monkey's expertise and focus is in developing action and arcade titles for the Nintendo GameCube, Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, and hardware-accelerated PCs. The company founders had previously been an essential part of the 3D Ultra and Incredible Machine line of games for Dynamix, a division of Sierra On-Line, Inc. Randy Thompson has been in the computer industry for the last 20 years as a software engineer, book author, magazine editor, project manager, and producer. His work history includes such venerable companies as COMPUTE! Publications and Microsoft. Recently as a Senior Producer for Dynamix, he managed products from idea to shelf: getting projects green lit, budgeted, staffed, developed, and out the door. Randy will serve as the General Manager and Director of Development for Buzz Monkey Software. Steve Cordon has over 12 years of experience creating games across a wide variety of platforms, genres, libraries, tools, and technologies; Steve is the wise veteran of the group with 14 shipped games under his belt since the early 1990s. Creator of several award-winning games, Steve has expertise in almost all areas of computer software development. Steve will serve as Technical Director for Buzz Monkey Software. Jon Milnes has shipped more than 15 titles during his career as a software engineer, including the most profitable game ever for Dynamix. Co-founder of High Risk Ventures and now Buzz Monkey Software, Jon brings his business expertise and technical management skills to the company. Jon will serve as Lead Software Engineer for Buzz Monkey Software. A barrel full of industry vets and young guns join the founding trio. Collectively, the Buzz Monkey Software team has been involved in the development of more than 60 titles, including the extremely popular 3D Ultra Pinball series, the innovative Incredible Machine series, the award-winning Betrayal at Krondor fantasy role-playing game, the ground-breaking Tribes series, and the action-packed San Francisco Rush 2049.
